1917 – 2004

OCALA, Fla. – Dr. Leonard A. Kamm, 86, of Ocala, Fla. and formerly of Auburn, died Saturday, March 27.

Dr. Kamm was born June 24, 1917, in Reading, Pa., the son of J.George L. Kamm and Edith von Nieda. He was educated and graduated from West Reading High School, Class of 1935, and attended the University of Pennsylvania. He received basic science certification from the University of Arizona. He received his doctorate, Summa Cum Laude, from National University of Health Services, Lombard, Ill. in 1942.

In college he served as secretary, treasurer, vice president and president of Upsilon Chi Beta Fraternity. Dr. Kamm is a Fellow and charter member of the National University of Health Sciences and a past research associate in the Occidental Institute Research Foundation of Canada. He was a member of the Marine Corps Heritage Foundation.

From the New York Institute of Finance, Wall Street, N.Y., he studied brokerage and acquired a security analyst degree and was also a physician of German biological medicine.

During 45 years of private practice, he served as a director for the Maine Chiropractic Association, was a member of the American Chiropractic Association, House of Delegates, chairman of the House Resolutions Committee and chaplain of the National University Health Sciences.

Dr. Kamm served in World War II in the U.S. Navy and Marine Corps and is a 55-year member of all Masonic Consistory Bodies, a 32nd degree Mason and a member of Kora Temple, A.A.O.N.M.S. Shrine. He was a Bel Canto tenor soloist. He was a soloist for Shrine Chanters and his last appearance was for the Eastern Star performance of Mendelssohn’s Elijah in New England.

He was a corporator of the Mid-Maine Mutual Bank, a private pilot since 1946, and has credits for a novel, “The Seeds of Abraham,” a novelette, “Cancer On The Eagle” and “Three Thorns On A Rose” and a varied assortment of short stories and 44 original oil paintings.

He is survived by a daughter, Lynn M. Kamm of Georgia.

Dr. Kamm was predeceased by his wife, Dr. Evelyn M. Kamm on March 30, 1992.
