WATERVILLE – The Net Burners, a Central Maine team featuring area cagers, have advanced to the championship round of the Maine Youth Basketball of America (YBOA) Tournament. The Net Burners won 3 games Sunday to earn a berth in next weekend’s finals.

Nicole Brown scored 19 points as the Net Burners defeated the Flames 61-43 in game 1. Kaylie DeMillo of Jay added 12 points, and Tracy Bradley of Lewiston 11. Jenny Rollins poured in 27 for the Flames. Caitlin Elliott added 8 and Theresa Libby 4.

In game 2, DeMillo collected 11 points as the Net Burners edged The County 45-44. Lewiston’s Kelsey Varney was next with 10 points. Jenna Lettenberger contributed 6. Anna Delong sparked The County with 10. Natasha Deshene and Caitlan Howe added 7 each.

Net Burners rolled past MDI 72-38 to stay unbeaten. Shannon Bean paced the winners with 17 points. Adding support were Varney (14) and Jay’s Heather Johnson (12). Young led MDI with 14. Stanley added 9 and Dow 5.

Tourney planned

SOUTH PARIS – The Oxford Hills Fifth-Sixth-Grade Boys Basketball Tournament is scheduled for April 3-4 at Oxford Hills Middle School.

All teams will play at least 2 games. Entry fee is $60. Registration ends March 30 at 9 p.m. To register call Dave Verrier at 743-0404.
