FORT MYERS, Fla. (AP) – Tim Wakefield allowed two earned runs in six innings and the Boston Red Sox got homers from Johnny Damon, Kevin Millar and David Ortiz in an 8-3 victory over the Baltimore Orioles on Monday.
Wakefield struck out four and walked none in his final Florida tuneup of the spring. He will make one more start before the season begins, in an exhibition game in Atlanta against the Braves.
The Red Sox took a 7-0 lead against Orioles starter Rick Bauer and chased him after two innings.
He allowed seven earned runs on five hits and four walks.
David Segui and Luis Lopez homered for Baltimore.
