Chilton R. Knudsen will help celebrate Palm Sunday.

WILTON – The Rt. Rev. Chilton R. Knudsen, bishop of the Episcopal Diocese of Maine, will visit St. Luke’s Episcopal Church on Sunday, April 4.

Knudsen will meet with the vestry, baptize and confirm and greet the parish as a whole at a brunch following the 10 a.m. service.

“April 4 is Palm Sunday,” said Father Tim Walmer, St. Luke’s rector. “The Palm Sunday liturgy is already a powerful service, and will even be more so with the bishop present to preach, baptize and confirm. It’s a wonderful way to begin Holy Week.”

The schedule for Sunday begins with Bishop Knudsen meeting with the vestry at 8 a.m. over a continental breakfast.

He will meet with those being confirmed or received at 9:15 a.m. and a holy Eucharist will be held at 10 a.m. The service will include the liturgy of the palms, baptism, confirmation, and the reading of the passion gospel. A brunch will follow at 11:15 a.m.

Visitors are welcome and are reminded that April 4 also marks the return of daylight savings time.
