• March 30, 6 a.m.: A Spruce Street resident reported the theft of his daughter’s small 20-inch Huffy bicycle, which was stolen from the porch sometime between March 1 and 5.

• March 29, 10:25 a.m.: A Hancock Street business reported it received a counterfeit $20 bill on March 28. The bill was turned over to the Secret Service.

• March 28, 5:11 p.m.: A Route 2 motorist reported that a New Hampshire vehicle was all over the road, striking a curb twice while ascending Falls Hill. Police overtook the vehicle in Rumford Center. Arrested was Steven D. Gove, 53, of North Woodstock, N.H., on charges of driving to endanger and possession of a usable amount of marijuana. He was released on $100 cash bail. He is to be arraigned at 8:30 a.m. on May 4 in Rumford District Court.

• March 28, 8 p.m.: A Pine Street resident reported that while she was away, someone entered her unlocked apartment and allegedly stole medication and money.

• March 28, 8:13 a.m.: While patrolling west on Route 2, officer Roy Hodsdon observed a white truck traveling east, swerve into his travel lane right in front of the cruiser near the Madison Motel. Hodsdon caught up to the driver, and arrested Jerry Lynn Koerner, 23, of Broken Arrow, Okla. Koerner, whose Oklahoma driver’s license was suspended, was charged with operating after suspension. He was transported to Oxford County jail in Paris.

• March 27, 9:40 a.m.: An officer running stationary radar on Route 2 in Rumford Center stopped a truck with Connecticut plates. Upon noticing some mountain bikes covered with a blue tarp in the truck’s bed, Sgt. George Cayer gained consent to search. The bikes, he learned, were reportedly stolen from Sunday River Ski Area and valued at more than $1,000 each. The theft incident and bikes were turned over to Oxford County Sheriff Sgt. Christopher Wainwright.

• March 27, 5:50 a.m.: Five tires on three separate vehicles parked on River Street were found slashed.

• March 26, 1:07 p.m.: After issuing a warning to a Rumford male for disorderly conduct on Congress Street, police received a second complaint on the man. Further investigation revealed that a witness saw him slice a tire on a vehicle and pull wires from underneath a second vehicle. Arrested on charges of disorderly conduct and criminal mischief, was Timothy J. Ronan, 47, after he was located on Congress Street with a knife in his possession. He was released on $1,000 unsecured bail.

• March 25, 7:17 p.m.: A 9-1-1 caller reported a disorderly conduct complaint at the Fortune Island restaurant on Congress Street. She told police a man had just been maced, and that another patron was holding the man down on the floor. Upon investigating, police learned that the maced man, “who was extremely intoxicated and had trouble standing,” was harassing a patron while he was waiting for a takeout order.

When the reportedly drunk man tried to grab the patron, “he pulled out his pepper spray and gave the male suspect a shot of pepper spray in the face,” said officer James Bernard. Further interviews revealed that no assault had occurred, and the patron acted in self defense. The suspect received warnings for disorderly conduct, harassment and criminal trespass.

• March 25, 12:07 p.m.: Seven vehicles parked at Hannaford’s parking lot received an estimated initial total of $1,500 in damages after being struck by rocks thrown from five juveniles in the lot across Hancock Street. The youths were referred to juvenile intake after reportedly confessing involvement.

• March 24, 10:05 p.m.: A Dixfield resident who parked his vehicle on Exchange Street at 7 p.m., returned three hours later to find two tires slashed. Damage was estimated at $160. Police have a possible suspect.

ARRESTS

• Orin W. Sprague III, 42, of Norway, on a charge of operating under the influence, on March 28. He was released on $500 unsecured bail.

• Chandra Sanfratello, 25, of Rumford, on a charge of violation of conditions of probation, on March 26. She was released on $165 cash bail.

• Diane Knight, 33, of Rumford, on a charge of disorderly conduct, on March 30.

• Matthew Malchisky, 19, of Rumford, on a charge of possession of a usable amount of marijuana, on March 29, in a Mountain Valley High School parking lot.

• Orin W. Sprague III, 42, of Norway, on a charge of failure to show proof of insurance, on March 28.
