Tim Whitehead is one of eight coaches to be nominated for the Spencer Penrose Award given annually to the top NCAA Division I Men’s Ice Hockey Coach of the Year.

The other nominees for the award are Enrico Blasi, Miami University; George Gwozdecky, Denver; Stan Moore, Colgate; Paul Pearl, Holy Cross; Tom Serratore, Bemidji State; Jerry York, Boston College; and Scott Sandelin, Minnesota-Duluth.

The award is named in honor of the former Colorado Springs benefactor who built the Broadmoor Hotel Complex, the site of the first 10 NCAA Hockey Championships. It will be presented at the American Hockey Coaches Association (AHCA) Coach of the year Banquet on Saturday, April 24, in Naples, Fla.
