BUCKFIELD – Buckfield High School senior Leslie Workman, the top ranked academic student in her class, has been selected to receive the 2004 Principals’ Award.
The award, sponsored by the Maine Principals’ Association, is given in recognition of a high school senior’s academic achievement and citizenship.
Workman is a member of the National Honor Society and also the senior class president. She has earned varsity letters in soccer and softball.
“Leslie is an outstanding leader and role model in the school,” said Principal Ralph Peterson. She plans to attend the University of Maine at Orono next year, majoring in pre-med.
Workman and other award winners and their principals will attend an honors luncheon at the Bangor Civic Center on April 3.
The luncheon recognizes the Principals’ Award students with an individual plaque and award of five $1,000 scholarships in the names of Horace O. McGowan and Richard W. Tyler, former Maine principals and executive directors of the association.
The Principals’ Award is presented in more than 143 Maine public and private high schools by member principals of the MPA, the professional association which represents Maine’s school administrators.
