AUBURN – Kirsten Larson-Turley of Lewiston, a docent at the Portland Museum of Art, will be the speaker on Monday, April 5, at the Auburn Art Club annual meeting. The noon luncheon session will be held at the Park Avenue United Methodist Church.
Larson-Turley will describe the demands and pleasures of knowing and showing art, including running a Web site, guiding a minimum of four tours a month, bringing art to seniors in nursing homes, teaching and chairing the All-New England Docent meeting.
Gathering hostesses will be the officers: June Spear, president; Mildred Bickford, vice president; Dorothy Kerr, corresponding secretary; Dorothy F. Kern, recording secretary; and Elaine Sylvester, treasurer.
Annual reports and the slate of officers for the season will be presented.
Guest speaker
LEWISTON – La Survivance Franaise will meet at 7 p.m. Tuesday, April 6, at the Multi-Purpose Center.
Michael Courchesne, a French teacher at the Lewiston Middle School, will elaborate on a project he has prepared with his students. They were asked to interview their grandparents of Franco-American descent and the information gathered was presented to the Franco-American Center at St. Mary’s for their archives.
A hat demonstration will be held, and prizes will be awarded for the funniest, strangest and most decorative. Members are encouraged to create their own hat if they wish.
Tickets for the May 2 banquet will be available. Cécile Anctil will serve as hostess.
Legion meeting
LISBON FALLS – Nelson-Conley Post 66, American Legion, will meet at 7 p.m. Wednesday, April 7, at the Slovak Association Meeting Room, Avery Street. The agenda will include the report of the nominating committee and election of officers. Nominations from the floor will be accepted. All eligible veterans are invited.
Seniors lunch
MONMOUTH – The Golden Years Seniors will meet at noon Wednesday, April 7, at the Packard Community Center for the monthly potluck dinner. All seniors are welcome and are invited to bring a friend.
DAR luncheon
BOWDOIN – Regent Jayne Bickford announces that Burnt Meadow Chapter, Daughters of the American Revolution, will entertain Lisbon High School and Oak Hill High School DAR Good Citizens and Good Citizenship medal recipients and their parents at a luncheon at noon Saturday, April 10, at the home of Mrs. George Byras on the Litchfield Road. The guest speaker will be Capt. John Lacey, USN retired.
Registration
WINTHROP – Winthrop Grade School kindergarten registration and screening will be held Monday through Thursday, May 24 to 27, at the school. Call the school at 377-2241, ext. 249, for an appointment between 9:30 a.m. and 2 p.m. weekdays.
The child musts be 5 on or before Oct. 15 to register. Parents need to bring the child, birth certificate, immunization record and a recent photo.
