AUBURN – Marty Engstrom, author of “Marty On The Mountain,” will be guest speaker at the Auburn Business Association’s monthly dinner meeting from 5:30 to 8 p.m. April 1 at Gipper’s Sports Grill.

Engstrom was a transmitter engineer on top of Mount Washington. He became well known for his weather reports, bow tie and grin. Through slides, Engstrom will share a humorous and informative glimpse into his experiences of living and working on the mountain for 38 years.

Women’s network lunch, makeovers

AUBURN – The Androscoggin chapter of the Maine Women’s Network will hold its monthly luncheon from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Friday, April 2, at Central Maine Community College, 1250 Turner St.

Women in business and women who would like to network with other professionals will be treated to lunch by Dore’s Café & Market, 20 Union St.. Cost is $12 for members and $15 for nonmembers.

Makeovers will be presented by Kathryn Beausang, independent beauty and image consultant with Mary Kay Cosmetics.

She has had extensive training on skin care advances and color trends and will be providing her make-up artistry skills.

Taylor Paige Cote of Madison Avenue Salon, Main Street, Auburn, will provide hair design for the makeover participants. Cote is a licensed cosmetologist who grew up in New York.

Susan Gammon of Gammon Dressmaking in Auburn has provided color analysis for area women for 11 years. The firm’s services also include custom tailoring, dressmaking, and alterations.

Hair Plus opening April 3 in Norway

NORWAY – Michelle Campbell will open Hair Plus Salon on Saturday, April 3, on Paris Street.

She and her husband, Randy, purchased the quarter-acre lot last year and have designed the entire salon. All hair and tanning services and products will be available including the newest techniques in foiling and cutting.

Campbell has been an independent stylist for 11 years. Joining her will be Chris Allen, formerly with Hair and Company of Norway, bringing more than 14 years of experience as a hair stylist. She is also working on certification as an artistic educator for Matrix.

Stephanie Woodworst of South Paris will add another 10 years of experience. She was a stylist at Marie’s Cutting Edge.

Hair Plus’ grand opening is from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Regular business hours begin April 6 at 9 a.m. Salon hours will be Tuesday through Thursday 9 a.m. to 7 p.m., Fridays 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Saturdays 8 a.m. to noon.

Hair Plus is located on Paris Street at the Beal Street intersection.
