FARMINGTON – The University of Maine at Farmington student group, SEA-Change, will co-sponsor the Spring Entertainment and Activism Festival, Saturday, April 3.

It will be held from 12:30 to 4:45 p.m. in Olsen Student Center on campus. A potluck dinner will follow the festival at 5 p.m. at the Old South Congregational Church and will be followed by a nonviolent protest film.

SEA-FEST will address anti sweatshops, global humanitarian issues and peace through activities such as live bands, a “clean clothes” fashion show, workshops, movies and an affordable art show. It will feature Ethan Miller with his political folk-rock compositions, singer Kate Boverman, UMF’s Paul Oxman, and Bjorn Claeson of the Bangor anti-sweatshop clothing campaign. All events will be free.

Community members are asked to bring hot main dishes while college students may bring easy to prepare items such as chips, drinks, napkins, plates, salads and desserts for the dinner. For information contact Aaron Witham at aaron.witham@maine.edu

SEA-FEST is sponsored by Western Mountains Peace Action Workshop, the Purchasing Practices Policy Committee at UMF and SEA-Change, a student organization dedicated to social and environmental activism and education.
