Drivers using Route 121 in Auburn and Minot are seeing construction crews on the improvement project there this week, according to the Maine Department of Transportation.

“We’re going to be resuming the work that we were forced to discontinue last fall because of winter weather,” said MDOT’s David Lycette. “The construction area begins in Auburn and runs northwest to the Minot-Poland town line.”

The project, scheduled for completion in early July, calls for drainage improvements and full reconstruction of the road for most of the length of the project. “Even in the areas where full reconstruction isn’t necessary, the work we need to do may still disrupt traffic and certainly creates a need for extra care and caution from drivers,” Lycette said. The contract for the project was awarded to Pratt and Sons of Mechanic Falls on a bid of a little more than $2.8 million.
