Historical society
WILTON – The Wilton Historical Society will meet at 7 p.m. Thursday, April 8, in the facilities next to the old Bass factory in downtown Wilton. Speaker will be State Rep. Thomas Saviello, whose duties in Augusta prevented him from appearing at the March meeting. Refreshments will be served and all are welcome.
Dog fair
FAIRFIELD – Tri-County Obedience Club, a newly formed club, will hold an AKC Canine Good Citizen Testing and Doggie Fair from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday, April 25, at the Fairfield Community Center. All dogs and their owners are invited to participate in the noncompetitive program, designed to reward dogs with basic good manners in the presence of other people and dogs. All dogs passing a 10-item test will receive a certificate from the American Kennel Club.
The cost is $10 a dog tested. The program is open to purebred and mixed breed dogs. Those who wish to participate in the testing or who want more information, can call Dale Dutill at 397-4105. The first 25 dogs that pass the test will receive a special gift.
There will be speakers and nonprofit animal groups at the fair as well as vendors. A family band, the Muellers Traditional Bluegrass, will perform in the gym at 1 p.m. There will be a food booth and raffles. Admission is free.
