AUBURN – Sidewalk construction near Wal-Mart should close one lane of Turner Street beginning Monday.
Crews will start building a new sidewalk along the west side of Turner Street, between Wal-Mart and Auburn Commons. The work should close one lane of the road for at least a month.
“We’ll have a flagger there, and they’ll be alternating traffic,” said project manager Matt Callahan of K&K Excavating. “You should expect delays the entire time. Find another route.”
Callahan said crews will also start sidewalk work along Center Street next week. That work will close one lane of that road as well.
“But Center Street has three other lanes, and they’ll remain open,” he said. “It’ll still be restricted, but traffic will be able to get through in both directions.”
Crews need to close the lanes to make room for equipment and materials, he said.
