HARTFORD – Selectmen approved a motion Thursday night to go ahead with a property revaluation this year. An article to cover the $43,125 cost will be put into the town warrant.
The board set April 14 for a public hearing on all ordinances being presented at town meeting. The hearing will also cover the Hazard Mitigation Plan, which is intended to better prepare towns for disasters. A plan must be adopted to get certain grants. The deadline for voluntary compliance is November.
Road Commissioner Bim McNeil stated in his report that some potholes have been filled, and he will be cleaning up sand on Berry Road and grading all roads that need it.
Code Enforcement Officer Kay Hawkins reported on a Town Farm Road residence that has a leach field below the water table. Selectmen voted to give the party until May 15 to have a site evaluation for another kind of septic system.
Selectmen reviewed an advisory agreement between Pine Shores association and the town concerning handicap access to the beach, Porta Potti servicing and trash pickup for Pine Shores. Selectman Scott Swain said there had been good communications between both sides. They approved the agreement and will pass it to the Planning Board for their approval Monday night.
Town Clerk Monica Mailly will attend the Town and City Clerks Association meeting, and Selectman Lee Holman will attend a solid waste workshop.
Approval was given for Fire Warden Norm St. Pierre to purchase a battery for one of the unused firetrucks.
Animal Control Officer Lianne Bedard reported that April 1 was the deadline for owners to register their dogs. A fine will be assessed for late registrations.
Selectmen approved the Hartford Town Report cover photo of 22 of the town’s approximately 45 volunteers. This is the first time the report has been dedicated to its army of volunteers.
A public potluck supper will be held at 6 p.m. Friday, April 2, at the town hall, and members of SAD 39 School Committee will be present to talk about the schools.
