1928 – 2004
LEWISTON – Ralph W. Koenig, 75, a resident of Pinkham Brook Road, Durham died Thursday, April 1, at C.M.M.C.
Born in New York City, Oct. 12, 1928, a son of Heinz B. and Lotte Johr Koenig, he was educated in Pownal and Portland schools. He served in the U.S. Army in Japan. Mr. Koenig was a member of First Congregational Church UCC, of Durham, the Durham Historical Society and the Hiram Masonic Lodge of South Portland.
He worked many years for Allied Construction in Portland. He enjoyed spending time at Crescent Lake sleeping in the hammock and also enjoyed the Pinochle Club on Sunday nights for 17 years. An Amvet Color Guard member, he took pleasure working at monthly Amvet suppers at Post 13 in Durham.
He is survived by his wife, the former Beverly Rand of Durham, whom he married June 11, 1949; a daughter, Kyle and husband Bruce Lord of Galien, Mich.; six sons, Neil and wife Cori of Westminster, Calif.,
Glen and wife Rhonda of Stanford, Conn., Dale and wife Sue, Dana, Kris and wife Lisa, Todd and wife Lori of Durham; his grandchildren, Kim, Kevin, Nathan, Seth, Nicholas, Jeramy, Rustina, Dylan, Mitchel, Natalie, Sara, Beth, Taylor, Noah, Abbye, and Alexa Koenig, Justin, Jordan and Jared Lord; his great-grandchildren,
Zackery Hulen, Anthony, David, Maria and Adam Koenig; his sisters, Ellen Collins of Brunswick, Judith McKnight of Harpswell, Peggy McGinty of Alexandria, Va.
He was predeceased by his father and mother; a granddaughter, Amanda Koenig; a sister, Marjorie Hamilton of Raymond; and his brothers, John E. of Portland, Don Michael of Florida.
