Mu Sigma Chi’s charter has been terminated following a hazing complaint.
BANGOR (AP) – A Husson College fraternity, Mu Sigma Chi, has been kicked off campus following an investigation into a hazing complaint filed by a former fraternity pledge.
College officials said Mu Sigma Chi’s fraternity charter has been terminated, meaning the fraternity no longer is recognized by the college, cannot meet on campus and cannot hold events as a fraternity.
The investigation was launched after Brocke Robinson, 25, said he and other pledges were ordered to drink urine as part of an event for pledges to the fraternity.
John Rubino, dean of the college, said that it has not been decided if Mu Sigma Chi will be allowed to return to Husson in the future.
Members of Mu Sigma Chi were not available for comment, but Robinson said he is happy with the outcome.
“I think Husson handled it very well,” he said. “I’m glad it’s over.”
Husson prohibits hazing activities, which are defined as any action taken or situation created to produce mental or physical discomfort, embarrassment, harassment or ridicule.
The policy specifies forced or required consumption of any food, liquor, drug or any other substance as a hazing activity.
