LEWISTON – A fire started in second-floor apartment Monday afternoon at 74 Oak St. when clothing brushed a candle flame, according to authorities. Amy Demayo was opening her closet door when clothing hanging on the back of the door draped over a candle sitting on her bedroom bureau, said Lewiston Fire Investigator Paul Ouellette. He estimated smoke and fire damage to the room at about $500. No injuries were reported.
