1932 – 2004

CANTON – Doris I. Cushman, 71, a long time resident of Dixfield, died early Monday morning, April 5, at the Victorian Villa Rehabiltation and Living Center.

She was born in Weld, Dec. 16, 1932, a daughter of Silas and Hazel (Toothaker) Blodgett Sr. She attended Weld schools.

On Aug. 28, 1948, she married Donald Cushman and they made their home on Marble Lane in Dixfield. She worked for over 20 years at the Diamond International Mill in Peru. She enjoyed singing country music for many years and playing her old Gibson guitar. She also enjoyed time spent camping on Webb Lake in Weld and taking pictures of wildlife, scenery and especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, which were her biggest joy.

She is survived by her husband of 55 years; three sons, Robert Cushman Sr. and his wife Jennie of Mexico, Barry Cushman and his wife Sylvia of Mississippi, and Greg Cushman and his wife Brenda of Mexico; seven grandchildren, Robert Cushman Jr. and his wife Michele of Mexico, Michelle Walton and Lisa of Rumford, Tracey Cummings and her husband Aaron of Mexico, Jason Cushman and Wendy of Hampton, Nathan Cushman of Mexico, Shawn Cushman of North Dakota, and Tanja Gunton of Mississippi; six great-grandchildren, Rebecca and Stephanie Cushman of Mexico, Samantha and Katelyn Cummings of Mexico, and Bailey and Taylor Cushman of North Dakota; two sisters, Lula Manzer of Dixfield and Rachel Hardy of Stewart, Fla.

She was predeceased by her parents; seven brothers, Raynold, Kendall, Silas Jr. (Barney), Ralph (Johnny), Erlon (Skipe), Carroll (Skip) and Richard (Tamp) Blodgett; three sisters, Christene Masterman, Althea Lee and Ruth Blodgett; a great-granddaughter, Brianna Gunton of Mississippi.
