1906 – 2004

PORTLAND – Dorothy E. Conant, 97, of East Livermore, died Sunday, April 4, at the Gorham House, under the care of Beacon Hospice.

Born in Livermore, Dec. 3, 1906, the daughter of Eunice Libby and Willis Gould, M.D., she graduated from Colby College in 1927, and from Gorham Normal School in 1929.

She spent many years as an elementary school teacher, primarily in the Brunswick and Topsham areas. She enjoyed traveling to different parts of the world and participated in a variety of elder hostel programs.

For many years she spent the winter months in Florida. Her interests included flowers, antiques, collectibles and coins. She loved animals in general, with a preference for cats and very small dogs.

She was a member of the Norland Grange in East Livermore and a life member of the Eastern Star, Hawthorne Chapter 104.

Survivors include a son, Bernie M. Conant Jr. and wife, Glennis of Cumberland, Md.; three grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and special friends, Regina Sargent of Porter, Elizabeth Carpenter of Cornish and Porter and Stanley and Teresa Bonney of East Livermore.

She was predeceased by her husband, Bernie M. Conant; a daughter, Marilyn C. McCulloch; and one grandson.
