FRYEBURG – The Oxford County Retired Teachers Association will meet on Friday, April 16, at the Ann Seton Catholic Church. A social hour will open the event at 10:30 a.m. followed by a business meeting led by President Jean Boyd of Buckfield.
A noon dinner will be served when special guest will be Marilyn Hall, president of the Maine Educators Association-Retired (formerly known as the Maine Retired Teachers Association).
Hall will discuss Social Security, recent legislation issues and reasons for changes in the association. The No Child Left Behind law will also be discussed.
Dinner reservations must be made by April 13 by calling Boyd at 336-2711. Cost is $7 each.
The group has changed its name to Oxford County Educator’s Association-Retired and membership eligibility has also changed. Membership is now open to anyone who retired from school districts in Oxford County and Maine as a teacher, teacher aide or assistant, school librarian, cook, school cafeteria worker, custodian or bus driver.
Association dues are $5 a year, and the meetings are on the third Friday of each month.
