FARMINGTON – The annual Farmington-area ecumenical Easter sunrise service will begin at about 6 a.m. Sunday, April 11, on Voter Hill in West Farmington.

All are invited to gather quietly in the early dawn to wait for sunrise and then join in a half-hour service of familiar Easter hymns, prayer and Bible readings, which celebrate the resurrection of Jesus Christ.

The service will be held adjacent to the intersection in the yard of Dr. Paul and Sue Taylor. Muffins and beverages will be served indoors for worshippers by members of Old South Congregational Church and the Taylors following the service.

Voter Hill is about two miles from the Farmington bridge and traffic signals. The first mile passes Maxwell’s Market, turns left onto Morrison Hill Road and then turns right onto Voter Hill. Turn left and go straight up for another mile to the intersection with Mohawk Drive. Parking is along the sides of the road.

Since 1977, an Easter sunrise service has been held in any kind of weather and is sponsored by the Farmington Area Ecumenical Ministry. Coordinators this year are Peg Morrill, April Hilton and Irene Berry.
