FARMINGTON – A powerful program of music and drama, “A Picture of Calvary,” will be presented at 7 p.m. Friday, Saturday and Sunday, April 9 to 11, at New Hope Baptist Church on Perham Street.
The instrumental part of the program will feature “The Old Rugged Cross,” played on four harps. A strings and woodwinds ensemble consisting of flutes, harps, mandolin, acoustic guitars and psaltery will play three selections: “Jesus Loves Me,” “Amazing Grace” and “Calgary Covers It All,” as well as a flute duet with piano accompaniment of “When I Survey the Wondrous Cross.”
The drama portion of the program highlights 13 biblical characters, their unique responses to Jesus Christ, and how they relate to us today. Scenery, lighting and costumes add to the intense dramatic vignettes and are interspersed with vocal solos, duets, trios and choir numbers.
Admission is free and all are welcome. For more information or for a ride, call 778-9696.
