PORTLAND – Dimensions in Jazz and the Maine Jazz Alliance are co-producing a monthlong spring jazz festival known as AprilFest. This year’s festival, April 2 to April 30, will benefit the Maine Jazz Camp, which is celebrating its 25th year.

Concerts will feature bands comprised exclusively of musicians with long-standing camp associations, including current senior campers, alumni, and past and present faculty members and clinicians.

Performers range from high school students Will Bangs of Kennebunk and Zack Caldwell of Yarmouth, to Warren’s Ben Street, one of jazzdom’s most influential bassists, and Portland’s Tony Gaboury, guitarist extraordinaire.

Also performing will be such jazz luminaries as pianist, composer and educator Ran Blake; Boston saxophonist George Garzone; Portland’s Rob Stillman, Pownal’s Chris van Voorst Van Beest and Presque Isle’s Tyler Wood.

Veteran Maine musicians Steve Grover and Brad Terry will also take to the stage along with many other performers.

For a schedule of concerts, call 828-1310.

Tickets for all shows are $15 in advance, $20 at the door; or $10 with a student ID.

Tickets may be purchased at the Starbird Music, Portland; Books Etc, Old Port and Falmouth; Macbeans Music, Brunswick; Wild Rufus Records, Camden; and the Center for Cultural Exchange, Portland. To order tickets by phone, call 373-0306.
