I was in shock when I read the March 31 article about Geoff Herman of the Maine Municipal Association. The Maine Municipal Association led the push for the referendum to force the state Legislature to fund schools at the promised 55 percent level.

How dare he withdraw the MMA support of that referendum?

According to the article, he now supports the Legislature’s proposal to fund $40 million to schools instead of the $250 million needed to get to the 55 percent support.

What a sellout. Many of us worked to get signatures for this referendum, and now he is against the very proposal he wrote. He has become a mirror of the Legislature.

The MMA has lost my confidence and my support.

The governor and Legislature cannot be trusted for their future promises. If they could be trusted, we would be at the 55 percent funding now.
