Auburn handbell groups to perform

AUBURN – On April 16, the United Methodist Church of Auburn will host an English handbell concert featuring ensembles from the church.

These groups include the Auburn Methodist Ringers, 4 Park Avenue handbell quartet and the Apprentice Ringers.

The concert will begin at 7 p.m. The music will include hymns, original handbell music, popular music selections and a piece with flute, played by Melissa Buzza.

The Auburn handbell groups perform on five octaves of Schulmerich handbells and three octaves of Malmark hand-chimes.

They’ve appeared at handbell festivals throughout New England and have performed around the Lewiston-Auburn area as well as at the L.L. Bean store in Freeport.

They have also performed at Faneuil Hall in Boston. They are currently working on their first CD release.

The handbell program is directed by William Buzza.

A freewill offering will be taken.
