PORTLAND – Two-time Grammy Award-winner Melissa Etheridge will perform at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, April 21, at Merrill Auditorium as part of her “Get Lucky Tonight” tour. She’ll perform with her band comprised of Kenny Aronoff, drums; Mark Browne, bass; and Philip Sayce, guitar.

The tour kicked off in in Los Angeles Feb. 17, just seven days after the release of Etheridge’s eighth studio album, “Lucky,” on Island Records. Her new single “Breathe” from the album is currently on radio and is quickly becoming one of the most requested songs in the country. It’s the most spirited and joyful album in her 15-year career.

“I have been blessed with some new beginnings this year and I’m really looking forward to getting back on the road and sharing that excitement with my fans,” Etheridge said in a press release.

Etheridge has grabbed a dozen Grammy nominations and two statuettes, plus the prestigious ASCAP Songwriter the Year Award. She has also sung with some of her biggest heroes. Along the way, Etheridge has become known for her forthright honesty in a field that often places images over substance.

With every accolade she’s attained and with a catalog of nearly 100 songs to rest on, Etheridge is still focused on one thing only. “I love to rock,” she declares. “When I’m singing, and I’ve got people in the audience throwing their head back and their hands up. I want to do that as long as I can.”
