PARIS – GED pretesting and testing are offered through Oxford Hills Adult Education. Students may enter at any time during the school year. Classes are held at 6 p.m. Wednesdays at Oxford Hills Comprehensive High School. For more information or to register, call Oxford Hills Adult Education at 743-8842, option 1.
Other classes will be offered as follows:
Maine Driving Dynamics, Larry Curtis: Western Maine Driving Academy will offer the course, which covers collision-avoidance techniques and safety tips. The techniques will be discussed through lecture, videos and classroom participation. Those completing the course will receive a three-point credit on their license record. The class will run from 6 to 8:30 p.m. Monday, April 12, and Wednesday, April 14. Tuition is $25 under age 65 and $10 for 65 and over.
The Stock Market: The class will focus on the development of a stock market investment plan in order to achieve a more consistent and more satisfactory rate of return. Areas of concentration will be money management and analysis, methodology and the effects of market psychology. The class will run for six weeks from 6:30 to 9 p.m. Wednesdays, starting April 14. Tuition is $30.
Creating the Life You Want, Elaine Dunton: Participants can discover their authentic self, start envisioning the life they want and set goals for creating a personal world. The free class is offered in collaboration with Maine Centers for Women, Work and Community. The one-session class will be held from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Monday April 5, in Room B124.
“Flying Squirrels – Train the Trainer”: It is a series of group and individual challenge activities that increase mutual support, improve self-confidence and develop trust in self and others – an ideal program to add to all youth programs. The workshop will train adults to lead these activities. The workshop requires participants to belay and climb the various elements. The workshop is sponsored by Teen Impact!, Child Health Center. It is free, but preregistration is required. The class will run for four weeks from 6 to 9 p.m. Tuesdays, starting April 27, in the high school gym.
Tennis for Beginners, Barb Leonard: Get some exercise, have some fun and learn a new skill. Racquets and balls provided. The class will meet for four weeks at the school tennis courts from 4 to 5:30 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays, starting May 4. Tuition is $30 and the lab fee is $3.
