Gov. John Baldacci presented the Governor’s Award for Business Excellence to WCSH 6 in Portland and WLBZ 2 in Bangor at a reception at Colby College in Waterville on March 24. The award is presented annually as part of the Colby College Institute for Leadership, a one-day event that draws businesses from throughout Maine.

This award is presented to companies who maintain a consistently high level of commitment to community, to service excellence and to employees.

Throughout its distinguished 50-year history, the stations have demonstrated their commitment to the community through in-depth news coverage, editorials and through unique and public-minded programming like “Voice of the Voter” and “207”, a venue for extended stories. Through the Gannett Foundation, WCSH 6/WLBZ 2 provide grants to qualified non-profit organizations to improve education, health and advancement of people throughout Maine.
