1916 – 2004

LEWISTON – Romeo N. Moreau, 87, of 10 Deforge St., died Friday, April 9, at Ste. Marguerite d’Youville Pavilion.

He was born in Lewiston, July 6, 1916, the son of Arthur and Alma Croteau Moreau. He was educated in local schools and was married to Liane Toussaint on May 29, 1943. Prior to his retirement in 1979, he was employed at Clark Shoe Co.

As a young man he enjoyed hockey, and also volunteered in building the original “Arena.” He was a member of Holy Family Parish, and was an avid gardener.

He is survived by his wife of Lewiston; a daughter, Patricia Berry and husband Elmer of Greene; five sons, Maurice R. Moreau and wife Barbara of Jay, Robert Moreau and wife Rosalie of Cincinnati, Ohio, Bertrand Moreau and wife Suzanne of Levant, Daniel Moreau and wife Louise of Greene, and Richard Moreau and wife Paula Rae of Hampton, Ga; 12 grandchildren, Michael and Scott Moreau, Christine Clark, Paul and Jennifer Moreau, Todd Moreau, Michelle Maki, Karen Martinez, Danielle Moreau, Sam Ambrose, Tammy

Akerley and Melissa Moreau; 12 great-grandchildren; four sisters, Alma Caux and husband Fern, Theresa Mathieu, Yvonne Bouchard, and Rose Houle and husband George all of Lewiston.

He was predeceased by a sister, Jane Grandmaison; and four brothers, Robert, Albert, Raymond and Arthur.
