RUMFORD – The second part of an informational meeting on the impact of the Maine Learning Results on high school students takes place at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday, April 13, in Room 302 of Mountain Valley High School.
SAD 43 Superintendent Jim Hodgkin said this forum will be a continuation of one held last month that focused on the impact of the Maine Learning Results on post-secondary admissions and the changes the school has been making to help students meet the new educational standards.
On April 13, the time line for changing to a non-traditional grading system and new standards-based diploma will be discussed for parents of high school students. The traditional A,B,C, D and F system will eventually be changed to E, exceeds the educational standards; M, meets the standards; P, partially meets the standards; and N, does not meet the standards.
The April forum is one of many the district has held to help parents of all SAD 43 students understand the educational changes the Maine Learning Results is bringing to the classroom and how student progress is measured.
Hodgkin encourages parents to drop off questions in advance of Tuesday’s meeting at the high school on Hancock Street. Interested parents may also call Hodgkins or curriculum coordinator Gloria Jenkins at 364-7896.
