PERU – The Peru Extension will meet at 9:30 a.m. Saturday, April 17, at the Peru School. The topic will be “Light and Tasty Foods” with Maxine Palmer as leader. Members are asked to bring articles for the nursing home basket.Kari Waterhouse has the mystery. Lunch will be potluck.
Reading group
DIXFIELD – The Ludden Memorial Library Adult Reading Group met the first Tuesday of the month to share interpretations of their recent reading choices.
Among the novels discussed were those by Nicholas Sparks, “A Walk to Remember, and Amy Tan’s novels, “Kitchen God’s Wife” and “Joy Luck Club.”
Also reviewed were the novels by Maine author Randall Probert: “Katrina’s Valley,” “Forgotten Legacy” and “Mysteries of Matagammon Lake.” Several Oprah selection books were also discussed.
Two selections by Anne Lindbergh were discussed as having been great reading material: “A Gift from the Sea” and “Return to Gift from the Sea.” For those who enjoy the mystery genre, Janet Evanovich was suggested.
The booklet, “Reading Group Choices for 2004,” is available and Librarian Peggy Malley is ordering selections from the list.
Present were Felicia Pietila, Nancy Tapley, Pat McBride, Missy Timberlake and group leader Diane Stanley.
The group, open to the public, meets the first Tuesday of each month from 11 a.m. to noon in the library community room. The next meeting will be Tuesday, May 4.
