I picked up the Sun Journal April 9 and before I could even to begin to read an article I was upset. The picture on the front page with the Marines praying over a fellow soldier was very disturbing to me.

I am a soldier in the United States Army National Guard, and I wouldn’t want to be displayed like that. We are serving our country and it is a honor. However, we would like to be honored if we die for our country, not displayed on the front of a newspaper, dead.

The picture would have been OK if it were just the Marines praying and giving their respects, but not over the soldier’s body.

I can’t imagine how this soldier’s family feels seeing their loved one in the newspaper like that.

I am writing this letter to ask editors to think about what they put in the paper at a sensitive time like this. Please give us soldiers the dignity and respect we deserve instead of putting whatever will sell on the front page.
