NORTHAMPTON, Mass. (AP) – Human leg bones with a boot attached to the foot were found on an island in the Connecticut River, police said Monday.
The human remains were found on Elwell Island Sunday.
The remains were taken to the medical examiner’s office, and authorities returned to the island Monday to look for more remains, Steese said.
Steese would not comment on what remains were found, but Northampton police told The Daily Hampshire Gazette that leg bones were found with a boot attached to the foot.
Northampton police told The Associated Press on Monday the investigation was being handled by the district attorney’s office.
