PORTLAND – Hospice of Maine will co-host Hospice Foundation of America’s 11th annual National Bereavement Teleconference, “Living with Grief: Alzheimer’s Disease,” with the York County Dialogue for Dialogue on Dying and Vernon Moore, dean of the School of Health Professions at the University of New England.

The teleconference, which will be moderated by Cokie Roberts of ABC News, will be broadcast from 1 to 4:30 p.m. Wednesday, April 28, at Ludcke Auditorium, Westbrook campus, University of New England, 716 Stevens Ave.

A panel will discuss what is known medically about the diagnosis, progression and treatment of the disease; explore innovative programs for patients and caregivers coping with Alzheimer’s; focus on the grief issues that patients and families face during the course of the illness; and examine the challenges and opportunities that Alzheimer’s disease presents to clinicians, caregivers, hospice workers and policy advocates. The panel will also discuss dementias other than Alzheimer’s.

After the broadcast, a Maine panel will discuss the issues raised and answer questions. Continuing Education credits are available. To learn more, visit the Hospice Foundation of America Web site at www.hospicefoundation.org. For more local information, contact Hospice of Maine at 774-4417.
