Lewiston High School
I recently sat down with Chad Powell, a promising art student at Lewiston High School, to ask him a few questions.
Why did you become involved in art?
“Since I was a kid, I always liked art, and when I came to the high school, Mr. Jody Dube and Mr. Nathaniel Myer inspired me more.”
How long have you actively participated in art?
The past two years
What medium of art do you enjoy the most?
Sculpture
Have you won any awards for your artwork? If so, what are they?
“I have won three awards. They were the Gold Key Maine Scholastic Art Award, American visions nomination, and a fully paid scholarship to the MECCA Summer program.”
What are your plans for the future? Do they involve art?
“Yes. I am going to Monserrat College of Art in Massachusetts where I will get a bachelor’s degree in art. Then, hopefully, I will teach ceramics.”
Do you have an artist or artists who influenced you?
“Actually, I have two artists. Mr. Dube who is the ceramics teacher at Lewisto High School and Artisan.”
