SOUTH PARIS – Robert G. Chiasson, 74, of Roxbury Road, Mexico died Tuesday, April 13, at the Maine Veterans Home.

He was born in Rumford, on Oct. 4, 1929, a son of Michael and Marie H. (Bernard) Chiasson. He attended local schools. Mr. Chiasson served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. He was employed as a machinist at Boise Cascade for 41 years.

He was a communicant of St. Theresa’s Catholic Church. He was a member of the American Legion Post 24 and The Fraternal Order of Eagles 1248 both in Rumford, and the Le Paresseux Snow Shoe Club.

“Bob” enjoyed snowmobiling, woodworking, trips on his party boat and camping at Dummers Beach in Weld.

He is survived by two daughters, Carlene M. Nicols and husband James A. Jr. of Mexico, Janet L. Hall of Weld; five sons, Michael W. and wife Kim of Mexico, Dennis J. and wife Tammy of Standish, Bradley J. of Winterport, Gary R. and wife Tracy of Peru, Gregory A. and wife Kelley of Rumford; two sisters, Theresa LeBlanc and husband Robert of Derby, CONN., Dorothy Doiron and husband Henry of Florida; a brother, Bernard Chiasson and wife Patricia of Connecticut; 11 grandchildren, Michael Chiasson Jr., Carey Woods, Matthew, Eric and Katie Chiasson, Cody and Kayla Chiasson, Kristen, Tanya and Ryan Nicols, Ellie Hall; and two great-grandchildren, Kolby and Quinn Woods.

He was predeceased by 10 brothers and sisters.

The family wishes to thank the staff at the Maine Veterans Home in South Paris for the wonderful and loving care given to Bob during this past two and a half years.
