NORWAY – Brian Albert Truman, 60, of Waterford, died Tuesday, April 13, at Stephens Memorial Hospital, after a long and hard-fought battle with cancer.

Born in Norway, Aug. 22, 1943, the son of Gerald and Arlene Bell Truman, after high school he served his country as a member of the U.S. Navy.

Throughout his life he worked as a mechanic, where he was able to utilize his many automotive talents. Mr. Truman was an avid fan of race-car driving and enjoyed many years of driving at Oxford Plains Speedway, where he raced his beloved “Triple Nickel” (555) in his favorite race, the Figure 8.

Over the years he was fond of going on “safaris” through the countryside enjoying all that our beautiful state has to offer, stopping for an occasional dip in the Crooked River and pausing for a “burn-out” on the Crooked River Bridge. He also enjoyed spending time with his favorite friend/cousin, Roger “Bacon” Bouchard. Most recently Mr. Truman has enjoyed spending time watching the wildlife in the field behind his Waterford residence with his wife, Judi and dogs, Baron and Scoop. He also looked forward to frequent visits with his family and friends.

Survivors include his wife, Judi of Waterford; one daughter and her husband, Tara-Lee and Neal Wykes of Naples; three sons and their wives, Chad Truman and his wife, Jodi of Auburn, N.H., Todd Truman and his wife, Stacy of South Paris and Chuck Truman and his wife, Christine of Oxford; one brother, Charles “Chuck” Truman and his wife, Janet of Waterford; one aunt, Merline Martin of Norway; and nine grandchildren.

He was predeceased by his mother, Arlene Bell Truman in October of 1989; and his father, Gerald Truman in June of 2000.
