GREENE – A group of community and staff members from SAD 52 have formed a committee to build a low ropes course/challenge course on recreation land behind Greene Central School.
A challenge course is a group of elements using the natural environment to create physical, mental and emotional challenges for individuals and groups that require a combination of teamwork, commitment, problem-solving and communication skills to complete. The course will be used by SAD 52 students, student groups, local law enforcement, community groups and local businesses.
The committee has received funding from the State Police Union, Androscoggin Safe Haven and Maine Support Network. With the funding almost in place, the committee plans to recruit community volunteers and State Police officers to build the course in May and June.
If anyone is interested in helping with the project or donating equipment or materials, contact Jennifer Simmons at Greene Central School.
