LIVERMORE – In celebration of the beauty of the setting, the culture and the period in history they represent, the Washburn Norlands Living History Center invites area artists to participate in an art contest, which concludes with a reception for the artists of the winning entries and a benefit auction on Saturday, Nov. 6.

Each artist is invited to contribute artwork capturing the beauty of the Norlands, measuring up to 24 by 36 inches.

Each entry will be judged by an independent judging panel. All artists will agree to release rights to their artwork.

The grand prize will be $1,000, with four runner-up prizes of $250 to be awarded. Registration fees for participation in the contest are $40 until May 31, and $50 from June 1 through Sept. 13. All entries must be received by Sept. 13.

Call 897-4366 to arrange access to the site. For other contest information, including volunteering, being a sponsor or the address to which persons can send financial contributions, call Siiri Stinson at 645-4536 or e-mail questions to norlandsartcontest@tds.net.
