LEWISTON – Sybil M. Nadeau, 91, of Homefield Street in Lewiston, died early Wednesday morning, April 14, at d’Youville Pavilion.
She was born in Lewiston July 29, 1912, a daughter of Thomas and Anne (Ruel) Saucier. She was educated in Lewiston schools and remained a lifelong resident of this community.
After getting married to her husband Hubert Nadeau on June 1, 1935, she worked as a homemaker as she and her husband raised their children.
She was a member of Holy Family Church, Ladies of St. Anne and was a Past President of Marchandes de Bonheur. For many years Mrs. Nadeau also volunteered in the gift shops at both St. Mary’s Hospital and at d’Youville Pavilion.
She was always an avid figure skater and in her younger years taught the sport to many local children for about 20 years. Among her other favorite enjoyments were baking, ceramics, needlepoint and gardening. She also loved 50 years of spending summers at their camp at Tacoma Lake.
She leaves her husband of 69 years, Hubert Nadeau Sr. of Lewiston; four sons, Hubert Nadeau Jr. and his wife Colette of Lewiston, Paul Nadeau and his wife Cecile of Auburn, Maurice Nadeau and his wife Diana of Locke Mills and Roland Nadeau of Auburn; nine grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
She was predeceased by five sisters, Aldea, Helen, Germaine, Cecilia and Muriel.
