PARIS – The VFW Post and Auxiliary on Main Street, South Paris, met April 7 for a spaghetti supper. Special guests were the fifth-grade essay contest winners and their families.

The topic was “American Soldier.” Top winners from the Rowe School were Tyler Packard, Kemsem Searles and Amanda Dillingham. Also attending was their teacher, Joan Wensel. Winners from the Madison School were Abbey Begley, Montana Mawhinney and Michael Walker, with their teachers Doug Hoy and Becky Gardner attending. Each winner received a check from the Veterans of Foreign Wars post and auxiliary for $25.

Election of auxiliary officers was held with Eula Felker taking over as president from June Wing. Also elected were senior vice, Donna Wing; junior vice, Florence Monteith; chaplain, Lula Meserve; conductress, Lillian Herrick; guard, Shirley Gatchell; secretary, Lori McCloud; and treasurer, Jeannette Conover.

Plans were finalized for the public roast turkey supper to be held Saturday, April 17, at the VFW Hall. Menu will include potatoes, vegetables, cranberries, rolls, gravy, coffee, punch, cake and ice cream.

The next meeting will be held on May 5 with a supper followed by installation of officers.
