PARIS – A warrant was issued Wednesday for a Penobscot County mother accused of keeping her 3-year-old son from his father.

Oxford County Sheriff’s Office Capt. James P. Miclon said a warrant was issued for Angel S. Oechslie Barker, 25, of Old Town, for criminal restraint by a parent. The charge means the non-custodial parent conceals or keeps a child away from the child’s legal custodian..

The father, Dennis L. Barker Jr. of Stoneham, was awarded full custody two weeks ago in a divorce proceeding at 11th District Court in Paris.

Miclon said the mother has kept Nicholas R. Barker from his father since June of 2001.

“He has tried to make contact numerous times, through her family, but she refused,” Miclon said.

Miclon said the boy’s name was entered in the National Crime Information Center as a missing person and hers was entered as a wanted person.

Nicholas is described as a brown-haired, blue-eyed, 30-pound Caucasian. He is estimated to be 2 feet, 5 inches tall.

Angela is described as a blue-eyed blonde, weighing 128 pounds at 5 feet, 4 inches tall.

Miclon said criminal restraint is a Class C crime and the sentence can be up to five years in prison and a $5,000 fine.
