AUGUSTA – Arthur F. Potter, 72, of Livermore Falls, died early Tuesday evening, April 13, at the Maine Veterans Home.

He was born, Feb. 27, 1932, in Oakland, a son of George E. and Olive (Philbrick) Potter. He attended Waterville schools graduating from Waterville High School in 1950.

In 1953, he married Mary Cowan of Sidney, and they made their home in Livermore Falls.

Mr. Potter worked at Record Foundry in Livermore Falls as a pattern maker from 1952 to 1955. He then served his country in the U.S. Army for two years and later six years as a reservist. He retired from the Wood Mill in East Livermore in 1997.

He was a member of the Cascade Grange in Oakland for nearly 60 years. He enjoyed woodworking as a hobby.

He is survived by his wife, Mary of Livermore Falls; two daughters, Patricia E. West, R.N. and her partner, Brenda Holbrook of Augusta and Susan E. Moody and her husband Richard of Livermore Falls; grandson, William B. Moody of Livermore Falls; two brothers, Harry Potter and his wife Sharon of Watertown, N.Y., and Robert Potter and his wife Nancy of Unity; nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by a sister, Ellen Potter Thomson Simmons.
