PORTLAND – The Friends of the Kotzschmar Organ will present guest organist Pierre Pincemaille from the Cathedral of St. Denis, Paris, France, in concert Tuesday, April 20. This is the second year for the program “Music from the World’s Great Cathedrals.”

Pincemaille has been titular organist of the Cathedral/Basilica of Saint-Denis in Paris, France, since 1987, following a full competition for the post. After gaining five first prizes from the National Music Conservatory in Paris, he went on to win the top prizes in improvisation not only at the famous Chartres International Organ Competition, but also at competitions in Lyon, Beauvais, Strasbourg and Montbrison. He has toured widely as both a recitalist and orchestral soloist in Europe, North America, Russia China, and South Africa.

The all-French program features the music of Widor, Vierne, Dupre, Franck and others. Pincemaille will conclude the evening’s program by improvising on the spot.
