PORTLAND (AP) – Kenny Perez walked with the bases loaded in the bottom of the 11th inning to force John Hattig home with the winning run as the Sea Dogs defeated the Binghamton Mets 2-1 Thursday in Portland’s 2004 home opener.

The teams were tied 1-1 from the first inning. Wayne Lydon bunted for a hit on the game’s first pitch and scored two batters later when Prentice Redman doubled down the left-field line.

Portland tied it in the bottom of the first when Jesus Medrano scampered home on Jeff Bailey’s RBI double to the left-field fence.

After nine scoreless innings, Portland (2-4) loaded the bases on Hattig’s leadoff walk, a hit batsman and Eric Johnson’s infield single.

After Mike O’Keefe struck out, Perez worked the count to 3-2 against Jeremy Hill, the third pitcher of the night for Binghamton (6-2), then drew a walk on a missed fastball.
