RUMFORD – The next business lunch and learn seminar will take place on Wednesday, April 21, in the River Valley Business Resource Center at 34 River St. from 11:30 a.m. until 1 p.m. The cost is $8, which includes lunch. The topic is “Building a Strong Team” presented by Norm MacIntyre, director of the River Valley Technology Center.

These seminars are sponsored by the River Valley Growth Council, the River Valley Technology Center and the River Valley Chamber of Commerce. It’s intended to provide information to businesses in an affordable way.
Considering creative economy
RUMFORD – The River Valley Healthy Communities will present a Creative Economy Forum from 4:30 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, April 21, in the Rumford Town Hall auditorium. A light supper and the movie “Downside Up” will featured from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m., with dessert and discussion at 5:45 p.m. with John Rohman, the chairman of the Maine Arts Commission.

The event is free and open to everyone, including selectmen, town managers, planners and other representatives of municipalities, Chambers of Commerce, artists, musicians, craftspeople, artisans, historical societies, businesses, nonprofits and the general public. It is sponsored by the River Valley Growth Council, River Valley Arts Initiative and Worldwide Language Resources, Inc.
Looking at youth development
RUMFORD – River Valley Healthy Communities Coalition will sponsor a Prevention topic: “Positive Youth Development” from noon to 2 p.m. Thursday, April 22, at Sam’s Italian Sandwich Shop on Route 2, in the second floor in the Community Room.

It will focus on Linking Youth with Elders. All community members interested in learning more about the work of Communities for Children and Youth are being urged to attend. The Rumford cluster covers: Greater Farmington, Wilton, Greater Rumford area, Rangeley, Weld, Carthage, Western Maine Mountains. People needed for trail cleanup
RUMFORD – People can join the River Valley Healthy Communities Coalition by taking part in cleaning up the paved walking trail at Hosmer Field. They will be meeting at the football field at the Main Entrance off Waldo Street at 3:30 p.m. Thursday, April 22.

People are being advised to bring work gloves and a rake. The Healthy Communities Coalition will provide water and light refreshments. All groups and all ages are welcome. For more information, people may contact the Healthy Communities at 364-7408.
Tickets available for Marley show
RUMFORD – The Bob Marley show that was planned for April 1 has been rescheduled for 8 p.m. Saturday, May 22, in the Mountain Valley High School auditorium. Tickets are available at Dirigo High School and Mountain Valley High School as well as at Franklin Banks in Rumford and Mexico, All That Jazz and Hannaford in Rumford. Proceeds will go to Mountain Valley High School Class of 2005.
