SEVILLE, Spain – Argentina’s Ricardo Gonzalez shot a 3-under-par 69 Saturday to take a one-stroke lead after three rounds of the Seville Open.
He was at 11-under 205, followed by Italy’s Emanuele Canonica (70) and Scotland’s Alan McLean (68). Five players were at 208 and another four at 209.
“My recovery shots were good,” Gonzalez said. “That’s the beauty of this game. I’m happy with my score but not with my game.”
Second-round leader Cesar Monasterio of Argentina faded with a 76, leaving him at 211. Raul Ballesteros, the nephew of Spanish star Seve Ballesteros, was at 210 after a 74.
McLean has Ryder Cup ambitions despite not having played much on the tour.
“If I win an event like this it will get me into the bigger events and I think can do well,” he said.
