AUBURN – A man ejected from a van after it rolled over off Washington Street was in critical condition Sunday night.
A nursing supervisor at Central Maine Medical Center in Lewiston said Vincent Voye, 39, of Lewiston, was being treated in the hospital’s intensive care unit.
Voye was thrown from the 1992 Dodge van when it struck a tree after rolling over, according to police reports. The van went out of control after it was cut off by another vehicle that then suddenly braked, according to the initial police investigation.
The van was driven by Roberta Voye, 39, who listed a post office box in Lewiston as an address. The passenger was listed at Vincent Voye, also 39 and of the same address.
Roberta Voye was treated at the hospital for her injuries then discharged, the nursing supervisor said.
Police said the accident happened at 11:45 a.m. Sunday on Washington Street opposite the Motor Home Center.
A witness told police that another vehicle cut in front of the van then suddenly braked. The van driver swerved to avoid a collision, the witness said, but lost control and ran off Washington Street. The van then rolled over and came to rest against a tree.
