FARMINGTON – Kenneth Lewis Wing, 75, a resident of Canton, died Friday, April 16, at Franklin Memorial Hospital, where he had been a patient for 10 days.

Born in Dixfield, May 4, 1928, the son of Adelbert and Ada G. Reed Wing, he attended the schools of Canton. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II in the Seabees, stationed in the Pacific. On Oct. 31, 1953 he married Joyce Dube in Livermore Falls.

“Ken” worked for Oxford Paper Co. in Rumford in the digester room. He was a former constable for the Town of Canton and an animal control officer. He also enjoyed his time as a softball coach.

He was past commander for the VFW, Holland-Damon-Maxim, Post 5986 of Canton, a member of the American Legion, Post 100 of Dixfield, the Whitney Masonic Lodge 167 of Canton and was a member of the NRA. He was an avid Cb’er whose handle was “The Carpenter”. He was a gun collector and also enjoyed hunting, fishing and camping with the grandchildren and always enjoyed telling a joke. He was a devoted husband, father and grandfather, who enjoyed being Santa Claus to all the children. He enjoyed all sports and especially loved to watch the Red Sox. His hobbies included making wishing wells and bird feeders. He had a great love of animals and will be missed by his dog, “Meiko,” and his cat “Fat Cat.”

Survivors include his wife of 50 years of Canton; eight daughters and their spouses, Gail and Thaine Eastman of Sumner, Brenda and David Bragg of Sumner, Darlene and Roy Frudenberg of Everett, Mass., Jody Hadley and her companion, David Marshall of Old Orchard Beach, Susan and Tim Wallace of Sumner, Sally and David LaFleur of Canton, Kim and Jerry Robbins of Canton and Wendy Wing and her fianc, Ronald Jacques of Jay; four sons, Daniel Wing and his wife, Evelyn of Albemarle, N.C., Kevin Stanley and his wife, Diane of Dixfield, Colin Wing and his companion, Rita Mathius of Albany, N.Y., and Jamie Wing of Oakland, Calif.; a brother, Tracy Dorey of Canton; 27 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
