Inland Fisheries and Wildlife wrote a letter to the Board of Selectmen.
PERU – Selectmen read a letter from the Maine Department of Inland Fisheries and Wildlife announcing it has no plans to construct a boat ramp on Worthley Pond this year.
The department bought a piece of property on the east side of the pond with the intention of building the public access ramp, but it announced in the letter that it would probably be at least two years before those intentions would be realized.
“With the cost of land going up so much, they are spending their money on buying property right now,” said Selectman Kathy Hussy.
In her report to the board, tax collector Vera Parent gave updates on the status of delinquent taxpayers. She said several people had made payments or had signed agreements to pay off their outstanding property taxes, fees and interest. “We’re getting a lot of movement on this from people,” Parent said.
